Sophora japonica L. refers to the dried buds and flowers of the Sophora japonica L., a leguminous plant. Sophora flowers are mainly cultivated in regions such as Henan, Shandong, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Anhui, Hebei, Jiangsu, and Guizhou. In recent years, areas like Ningxia, Gansu, and even Vietnam have seen large-scale cultivation. Buds harvested before the summer flowers bloom are known as "locust rice," while those harvested with the flowers are called "sophora flowers." After harvesting, the branches, stalks, and impurities are removed from the inflorescence, and then they are promptly dried and processed using raw, stir-fry, or charcoal methods.
