Bulk powders curcumin supplementation is generally safe to use at the recommended dosage. Last time we talk about some of the benefits of powders bulk curcumin, today we look at the other benefits of taking curcumin daily.

Boosting brain-derived neurotrophic factor
A systematic literature review and meta-analysis of four randomised controlled trials with 139 participants showed that curcumin supplementation significantly increased serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels. Daily doses of curcumin ranged from 200 mg to 1820 mg, and the duration of the trials ranged from 8 weeks to 12 weeks.
In addition, subgroup analysis showed that the associated effect of elevated serum BDNF levels was particularly significant in the following subjects. Women, participants over 40 years of age, high doses of curcumin (≥500 mg/d), and longer trial durations (>8 weeks).
Supplementation with curcumin helped boost brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Perhaps it is positively helpful in neurological disorders associated with low BDNF levels.
Beneficial for colonic agitation
Meta-Analysis of 3 randomised controlled trials of 326 patients with irritable bowel syndrome noted that curcumin was helpful in improving symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, but the effect was not statistically significant.
Oral bulk powders curcumin may be helpful in improving irritable bowel syndrome, but due to the small sample size and high heterogeneity of the included studies, more precisely designed, long-term, large-scale studies are needed to confirm its clinical benefits.
Curcumin ulcerative colitis
Ulcerative colitis is a chronic disease that causes inflammation and ulceration of the colon and rectum. Lesions usually originate in the rectum, continue into the proximal part of the colon, and are usually confined to the mucosal layer. The main symptoms of an attack include abdominal pain and diarrhoea with bloody stools; weight loss, fever and anaemia may also occur during an attack of ulcerative colitis.
A systematic review of the literature and a meta-analysis indicated that adjuvant bulk supplements curcumin therapy did not have a significant effect on disease remission or improvement in clinical response compared to placebo.
Oral curcumin was not shown to be effective in improving ulcerative colitis, but due to the small sample size and high heterogeneity of the studies included, more accurately designed, long-term, large-scale studies are needed to confirm its clinical benefits.
Curcumin benefits weight loss
A systematic literature review and meta-analysis showed that curcumin was effective in reducing body weight (WMD: -1.14 kg) and body mass index (WMD: - 0.48 kg/m2). The study consisted of 11 randomised controlled trials with a total of 876 overweight and obese subjects. However, the effect on waist circumference (Waist Circumference) reduction was not significant.
Additionally, subgroup analysis revealed that at a daily dose of ≥1000 mg, the duration of the intervention was ≥8 weeks. The use of curcumin helped to improve waist circumference in a trial of overweight subjects.
Oral curcumin can have a positive effect on assisted weight loss, but more research is needed due to the heterogeneity of the included studies.
Benefits for Allergic Rhinitis
Allergic rhinitis is a reaction to substances (allergens) to which the eyes, nose, throat and pharynx are sensitive.
A randomised, double-blind, controlled study showed that oral curcumin bulk powders (500 mg daily) was associated with fewer nasal symptoms, including sneezing, scratching, runny nose and congestion, than placebo. The study was conducted on 241 patients with chronic allergic rhinitis over a 2-month period.
The mechanism behind this is related to the modulation of immune function, inhibition of pro-inflammatory hormones such as interleukin-4 (IL-4), interleukin-8 (IL-8), tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) and an increase in the anti-inflammatory interleukin-10 (IL-10) soluble cellular adhesion molecules 1 (sCAMs).
Oral bulk powders curcumin may have a positive effect on allergic rhinitis, but more large studies are needed to further validate the effect
Curcumin effects on inflammation
Inflammation refers to the physiological response triggered by a stimulus such as trauma, haemorrhage, or pathogenic infection of biological tissues. This includes symptoms such as redness, swelling, heat, and pain.
Several highly evidenced-based literature synthesis analyses have indicated that oral administration of curcumin-related compounds has significantly reduced relevant pro-inflammatory markers. For example, C-reactive protein, tumour necrosis factor-alpha, and interleukin-6.
The ability of pure bulk curcumin to reduce some of the inflammatory markers, such as TNF- alpha, CRP, IL-6, has positive benefits for inflammation-related diseases.
Prevention of bone loss
Bone loss is defined as a decrease in the amount of substances such as calcium and collagen per unit of bone volume.
A preliminary controlled study suggests that taking bulk powders curcumin in combination with dietary modification and exercise may improve bone mineral density. The study was conducted in 57 older adults with low BMD/DXA t-score between -1 and -2.5 over a 24-week period. Curcumin extract powder bulk may have a positive effect on preventing bone loss, but more large studies are needed to confirm this.

Curcumin pain relief
According to research, 25% of the US population (about 75 million people) suffer from chronic or recurring pain, 40% of which affects work and family, resulting in huge economic losses.
Chronic pain is associated with the subsequent abuse of prescription painkillers, especially opiate painkillers, which cause more deaths than narcotics (heroin and cocaine) and are classified as a national health issue by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
A systematic literature review and meta-analysis (Meta-Analysis, 8 randomised controlled studies with 606 participants) indicated that curcumin analogues are safe and well tolerated to help improve pain severity. Therefore, the use of bulk turmeric curcumin has a pain-relieving effect.
Aids in improving sarcopenia
Sarcopenia is a condition of aging in which muscle mass and strength are lost, resulting in severe falls and fractures that can lead to loss of autonomy and the need for personal care.
A 3-month controlled trial showed that curcumin, combined with exercise training and dietary modifications, significantly improved a number of assessment parameters in subjects compared to a control group. These included grip strength, weight lifting, cycling time, walking, stair climbing, proteinuria, oxidative stress, Kurtosis, and left ventricular ejection fraction. The study was conducted on 86 elderly individuals with symptoms of muscle loss and fatigue.
Curcumin has the potential to improve muscular endurance and physical performance, and may be able to stop the onset of sarcopenia.
Curcumin dyspepsia
A randomised study found that 87% of patients with dyspepsia who took bulk powders curcumin for 7 consecutive days reported an improvement in symptoms such as abdominal pain, flatulence and belching.
