● Molecular structure and formula:

Ursolic acid has the molecular formula C30H48O3 and its molecular structure consists of a pentacyclic triterpene skeleton.

● Physical properties:

Ursolic acid is a white to off-white powder with a melting point of 285-288°C. It has a neutral taste and odorless.

● Solubility and stability:

Ursolic acid is insoluble in water and soluble in ethanol, acetone, and chloroform. It is stable in dry conditions but can be degraded under acidic or alkaline conditions, high temperature, and exposure to air or light. Ursolic acid is also sensitive to oxidation and can undergo auto-oxidation.

In order to better separate ursolic acid and oleanolic acid, a chromatographic column was used.

An Agilent C18 column was used with acetonitrile:water (93:7, v/v) as the mobile phase.

The chromatographic separation was performed with a UV detector at 210 nm. The control was dissolved in ethanol and 8-12mg/25m.
