How Is Sulforaphane Powder Produced?
1. Raw Material:
Processing 138 types of broccoli seed preferred, from the source, to ensure the quality of the sulforaphane powder product.

Broccoli seeds contain a large amount of oil that hinders the contact of the mustard enzyme with the thioglucoside. Therefore, the seeds are degreased before enzymatic digestion. Organic solvents such as hexane and petroleum ether are often used for degreasing.
Supercritical CO2 extraction was applied to the degreasing process of broccoli seeds and compared with the traditional degreasing with petroleum ether. It was found that the extract was more turbid when petroleum ether was used for degreasing, while the supercritical degreasing method yielded a higher oil yield. The rate of radish sulforaphane yield was also higher. The supercritical CO2 extraction process was optimized to remove 94% of the oil in broccoli seeds.
